People in Their Worlds: An Overview of the Rautenstrauch-Joest-Museum

The exhibition concept of the Rautenstrauch-Joest-Museum focuses on thematic units that affect people worldwide, regardless of their geographical origin. The different forms and perspectives with which we as humans deal with these various topics are just as much a part of the tour - as are the experiences and questions of the visitors. The tour is not only intended to provide information about the museum and the objects, but also to address current social and political debates about colonial violence and historical injustice, as well as the associated consequences.

Diversity of Belief: Hinduism and Buddhism

In the course of history, a multitude of beliefs and world views developed, which have influenced people’s thinking and behaviour. Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism as the largest denominations unite the majority of believers throughout the world. However, the entire richness of religious traditions has yet to be explored. Exemplarily for this abundance, this guided tour focusses on the religious concepts of Hinduism and Buddhism.
