Gamelan courses (in German)

Gamelan music is an art that has developed for many centuries in Southeast Asia, mainly on the Indonesian islands of Java and Bali, and still enjoys great popularity today. We seek to make this great musical tradition better known in Cologne and the surrounding area.
A separate room was created in the permanent exhibition for the original Indonesian instruments, which were made around 1900. By integrating shadow figures and dance costumes, this space helps visitors immerse themselves in the world of living gamelan culture. The gamelan orchestra consists of 45 different bronze sound bodies.
The courses are conducted by Hartmut Zänder. They are particularly suitable for children, as they promote musicality, train mutual consideration and create a group feeling.
